Trial by Portrait
We were given a two week self-portrait assignment first semester of undergrad. Honestly, this extended length of time was likely one of the worst ways to learn how to draw portraits. I therefore decided to complete(-ish) one portrait a day of either a family member or a celebrity over the 2 weeks that followed. I used pencil or charcoal, and took between fifteen minutes and an hour to complete each drawing. I then scanned some of these into photoshop, my first forays into digital painting.
