The Roller was created as part of my thesis; There`s More to Playgrounds than Swings and Slides.
It was also meant to stand in contrast to the usual arch-fab construct. The Roller uses hightech manufacturing technologies opportunistically. Instead of creating complex forms and intricate joinery for the sake of creating complex forms and intricate joinery, the roller limits itself to a single cnc-ed sheet of flexible ply. By taking advantage of its context, it has the potential to playfully and dramatically alter its given setting.
